House to Home

Hansard Society, 2006

House to Home, hosted by the Hansard Society in the striking surroundings of Westminster Hall was a multi-media forward-thinking exhibition designed to bring Parliament and people together. Its philosophy was to bring politics and Parliament to life, to engage visitors in debate about the state of politics and where its going next.

The exhibition consisted of a journey which took visitors from a physical representation of the current House of Commons Chamber (the House) to a more inclusive participatory political involvement (the Home). They were able to engage in a live vote through interactive TV, express their views on a range of questions about parliamentary democracy and were encouraged to influence and shape the exhibition and project outcomes through voting on different presented options and contributing their ideas and views.

With over 2,500 visitors in the first two days it was the largest exercise in public education and involvement in the parliamentary process ever to take place.
